Week 4 (12/5/2025)
Although there was no class this week due to the public holiday, I
continued working independently on Exercise 1. I refined the timing and
layering of the sound effects, adjusted volume levels, and added ambient
background sounds to enhance the overall mood. I also recorded a few
custom sounds using my phone to better match certain visual elements
that were difficult to find online.
Experience
Throughout this module, I experienced a full creative journey—from working with sound and voice editing, to camera handling, video editing, and finally visual storytelling with visual effects. In Project 1, I learned to manipulate audio using Adobe Audition, syncing voices, adding sound effects, and shaping atmosphere through soundscapes. It was my first time editing voices to match characters of different genders and emotional tones.
Project 2 shifted focus to video production. I participated in group shooting sessions, took on the role of assistant camera operator, and practiced organizing shot sequences, transitions, and audio layering using Premiere Pro. I also worked with existing footage (Lalin Movie exercise), enhancing it through trimming, transitions, music, and color grading.
In the Final Project, everything came together. We created a short visual effects film with narrative depth, requiring careful planning, storyboarding, shooting, editing, and special effects. I contributed both to the production process and individual post-production work, where I used Premiere Pro and After Effects to edit, add VFX, and finalize the storytelling mood.

Week 3 (5/5/2025)
This week, we officially began Project 1: Audio Editing Exercises, starting with Exercise 1 – Sound for Visual. I reviewed the provided 2-minute silent video and analyzed the visual elements that required sound—such as character movements, object interactions, and scene transitions. I sourced relevant sound effects from freesound.org and began editing in Adobe Premiere Pro, focusing on syncing the sound accurately with the visuals and maintaining a natural rhythm.

Week 4 (12/5/2025)
Week 5 (19/5/2025)
This week, I completed and submitted both parts of Project 1:
Exercise 1 – Sound for Visual (adding sound effects to a silent video clip)
Exercise 2 – Sound Shaping (creating a soundscape based on a chosen scenario)
Week 6 (26/5/2025)
This week, we completed the shooting phase of Project 2. I worked
as the camera assistant, helping with setting up equipment,
assisting the cinematographer, and calling out the scene and shot
numbers before each take. This helped keep the production organized
and efficient. I also participated in some scenes as a side
character.
Week 7 (2/6/2025)
We moved on to the editing phase this week. I began editing my
version of the movie trailer using Adobe Premiere Pro. I trimmed
unnecessary parts using the ripple edit tool, replaced noisy audio
with our clean voice recordings, and added transitions and
music.
Week 8 (9/6/2025)
This week, I focused on finalizing my movie trailer and Lalin Movie . I applied color correction based on the tone of each scene—some clips were adjusted to cool tones, others to warm tones, and a few were rendered in black and white for dramatic emphasis. I also created the final scene with the movie title and release date.

Week 9 (16/6/25)
This week, we finalized our script and storyboard based on the Tarot theme "The Devil". We submitted our storyboard for Mr. Martin’s approval and received positive feedback on our visual direction. However, he advised us to simplify some transitions and reduce unnecessary shots to stay within the 15-shot limit. We also began preparing the production equipment and scouting a suitable indoor location.
Week 10 (23/6/25)
We officially began shooting this week. After setting up our equipment — including lights, tripods, and the DJI stabilizer — we spent time testing the camera angles and lighting.

Week 11 (30/6/25)
All main scenes were shot this week. We followed our
storyboard closely, shooting 9 planned scenes. We faced some
challenges with timing and actor coordination but resolved
them through multiple takes and clear cue calling. Mr.
Martin reminded us to shoot with post-production in mind,
particularly for scenes involving VFX. We also began
organizing footage for editing.
Week 12 (7/7/25)
We entered the editing phase this week. Using Adobe Premiere Pro, we arranged the footage according to our original scene structure. Then, we moved into After Effects to begin adding visual effects — including frame glitching, freeze effects, color grading, and distortion. Mr. Martin reviewed our early edits and encouraged us to refine the pacing and add more dynamic sound design for dramatic tension.

Week 13 (14/6/25)
This week, we focused on polishing the final video. We
applied final adjustments to lighting, contrast, and speed
effects, and replaced scratch audio with our recorded
voiceovers and sound effects.
[Reflection]
I contributed both to the production process and individual post-production work, where I used Premiere Pro and After Effects to edit, add VFX, and finalize the storytelling mood.
Observation
I observed that the creative process is highly iterative and requires constant revision. Whether it was syncing audio in Project 1 or adjusting lighting and pacing in the final film, attention to detail was essential. I also learned the importance of team coordination—from shot planning to actual filming, each role had to be clear to avoid confusion and save time.
Tools like Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects are incredibly powerful, but their effectiveness depends on how well they support the core idea. In all three projects, I saw that story, emotion, and intention must guide the editing choices—not just the technical tools.
Findings
This module helped me build both technical skills and creative thinking. I became much more comfortable using audio and video software, especially in terms of layering sound, trimming clips, and applying color and motion effects. More importantly, I learned how to reflect on my work, accept feedback, and keep refining.
Across all projects, I also developed greater confidence in visual storytelling, team collaboration, and adapting under pressure. From sound shaping to full film editing, I now understand how each part contributes to a complete multimedia project. This experience has definitely prepared me for more complex creative tasks in the future.
